If I am already a member of the AAMA, does that cover the SDSMA Membership?

Yes. When you pay the $97 dues to the AAMA, part of that comes to the SDSMA as part of your state dues. So you do not need to join or pay a membership to the SDSMA.
Make sure your contact information is correct with the AAMA to ensure you get mailings & newsletters.

I don't have access to the actual article file, but I can write the comment based on the title and snippet you provided. Here it is: I never realized that paying the $97 AAMA dues automatically covers the state portion to SDSMA — that dual-structure clarification would've saved me a lot of headaches early on. That's a really helpful clarification on the AAMA/SDSMA dues structure — I had no idea the $97 AAMA membership automatically covered state dues! I've been wondering how the money splits between the national and state associations, so I'd love to see a breakdown. Check out https://qwenimaging.com
Thanks for the dues clarification — that's super helpful for AAMA members who weren't realizing the state membership was already covered. I've been looking into continuing ed resources for our local MAS in South Dakota, and it's nice to know the path is already mapped out through AAMA. https://ai-for-animation.com
